The Uncensored Architecture And History Walking Tour
Meet Your Tour Guide
Your Tour Guide SuperDan has a Master of Science in Real Estate Degree from DePaul University’s business school and has been a Tour Guide for 4 years.
What is special about this tour?
Chicago's only uncensored architecture and history walking tour on the Riverwalk — adults only (18+).
We start at the west end of the Riverwalk and walk east toward the lake, keeping the afternoon sun behind us instead of in our eyes.
SuperDan schedules tours after noon for a reason: walking east as the sun drops behind you gives you some of the best views and best light the Riverwalk has to offer — especially around golden hour.
OverView
Meet your guide, SuperDan, at the west end of the Chicago Riverwalk, then head east toward Lake Michigan all the way to The Northman Beer & Cider Garden.
Along the way, you’ll explore some of Chicago’s most remarkable architecture, hear the history behind the Riverwalk, and get the stories that are often left out of the big tour companies’ scripts, including:
The Fort Dearborn Massacre (over 60 American soldiers, settlers, women and children lost their lives)
The S.S. Eastland Disaster (more passengers perished than on the Titanic)
The Levee District (the largest red-light district in human history)
The Haymarket Riot (the first use of dynamite in a domestic terrorist incident)
Chicago's First Murder (perpetrator: John Kinzie, the owner of Chicago and the man for whom Kinzie Street is named)
